If someone were to ask me why I enjoy being a Civil Celebrant I would have to say that it’s very wrapped up in being a ‘people person’. Celebrant work takes me into people’s homes and into their hearts as this work involves not only marriages but also baby naming or name giving of any age, commitment ceremonies, milestone celebrations and of course funerals. I have the opportunity to get to know people at the most emotional times of their lives, sharing their joy and their sorrow and this I consider to be a privilege.
I want to touch the hearts and minds of the people listening so that they can share the very special moment emotionally of the couple making a lifetime commitment to each other. Or in the case of a funeral, to be able to capture the essence of the loved one so recently departed, with honour, respect and dignity. |
